Most of you might know the book “Atomic Habits” written by James Clear. If you haven’t heard of the book, it’s one of the best books to help you build good habits.

Aside from the book, I’ve listened to a number of educational podcasts where James talks about implementing smaller habits.

One of my favorite interviews with James is on The Imperfects Podcast.

I’ve shared this book with most of my friends because it is written in a simple and digestible manner. These are a few habits that have stuck with me since reading it over a year ago:

Stack a new habit after an existing habit

Stacking a new habit after something you already do every day is a great strategy.

For example, I’ve stuck to my flossing habit for over a year. When I brush my teeth at night, I will have my floss next to my toothbrush. So straight away, I will reach for the floss and quickly floss my teeth.

Now, I floss my teeth every night.

You can try this with a lot of things, but I recommend starting really small.

What can i stick to even on the bad days? Scale it down so it is so easy to do — James Clear
